Hydroelectric Power Plant Project Manager Assistant Internship - Prospecting for new projects


End of study internship (or gap year)

Description of the internship offer

You will be based in the young Lyon office and will join the team of 4 hydroelectric project managers in the Part Dieu/Place Guichard area. You will be in contact with the rest of the hydro team and the support functions based in Montpellier (some travel will be expected).

Your main missions will be to assist the hydroelectric project managers in their prospecting and follow-up missions with potential clients (local authorities) and to participate in the development of the prospected projects.

You will mainly participate in the detection, prospecting and securing of new hydroelectric projects. For this, you will be required to :

Your main tasks will be:

  • Identify new host sites for hydroelectric power plants based on search criteria defined with management. For this, you will be trained by the cartographers on the internal mapping tools;
  • Carry out the diagnosis and qualify the potential of the sites (mobilizable water resources, estimate of the electricity production, inventory of the land concerned by the project, evaluation of the main environmental and regulatory issues);
  • To carry out the visits of pre-qualified sites (photographic report, taking of measurements on the water courses);
  • Secure meetings with affected communities and landowners.
  • Present the hydroelectric project, with the help of a project manager, to representatives of the local authorities;
  • Drafting commercial offers (letter of interest, contract, notarial deed) and participating in negotiation meetings;
  • Report on the progress of detections and points of difficulty.

You will also participate, although more punctually, in project development missions. For this you will be required to :

  • To assist a project manager in the realization of the files of requests for authorization (environmental authorization) of the prospected projects;
  • Carry out your own studies of producibility and pre-design of hydroelectric plants;
  • Train you in project management tools and methodology;
  • To manage subcontracted studies and in particular environmental impact assessments of projects (specifications, tendering, selection, monitoring, acceptance);
  • Meet with the state services to present the projects before instruction;
  • Follow up the instruction of the administrative files submitted.

Skills required

  • Engineering school / Master in environmental project management
  • General knowledge of the RE sector appreciated
  • B license
