Camelas Shade

The Camélas photovoltaic project, located in the Pyrénées Orientales department, is operated by Sunti, a subsidiary of the Soper group, and its construction has been entrusted to Elements.

Commissioned on July 5, 2023, the Camélas power plant consists of 16,500 m² of photovoltaic modules installed on photovoltaic shades that house a storage and warehousing area for tippers, agricultural equipment and Auber Transport trucks. A double benefit: production of green electricity and improved operating conditions for this 3.5-hectare site.

The plant comprises 6,500 bifacial photovoltaic panels, with a total installed capacity of 3.5 MWp. Annual production is estimated at 4.8 GWh/year, equivalent to the average annual electricity consumption of around 1,000 households, making the commune of Camélas energy self-sufficient (459 inhabitants in 2020). 100% of production is fed into the grid and consumed locally. Atmospheric emissions avoided are estimated at 268 tonnes of CO2 per year.

A cooperative project, built in collaboration with local companies, and in line with the environmental approach of Perpignan Méditerranée Métropole, which aims to become an energy-positive territory by 2050.
